Silver King Solar and Storage Project
The Silver King Solar and Storage Project, located in Northwest Pinal County near State Route 79, is anticipated to be developed over three phases, with 1,100 megawatts (MW) of solar energy production capacity (enough to power about 750,000 homes) and 1,100 MW of battery energy storage capacity (BESS) to store energy for later use and ensure grid reliability.
Project Benefits
Arizona’s economic growth depends on reliable energy to meet rising demand driven by semiconductor firms and high-tech manufacturers. The state’s 15% renewable energy mandate by 2025 has attracted billions in private investment and accelerated the shift to sustainable energy. However, local government restrictions and development challenges have slowed progress.
The Silver King Solar project offers a critical opportunity to enhance energy reliability and foster collaboration and innovation. With its significant production and storage capacity, the project can support Pinal County’s economic growth, advances in environmental technologies, and enhance local workforce development. New economic opportunities will emerge through fund matching, technology transfer, and other collaborative efforts.

With effective public and private collaboration, Pinal County can unlock new opportunities and position itself as a leader in sustainable growth and innovation.
